Yousuf Gaffar, M.D, is a physician specializing in hematology and medical oncology with nearly two decades of experience dedicated to advancing cancer care. For almost 20 years, Dr. Gaffar has committed his career to improving patient outcomes through individualized treatment, precision research, and compassionate care. Dr. Gaffar earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Saba University School of Medicine, where his early dedication to medical excellence began. His foundational medical education instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and commitment to patient care.

Following medical school, he completed his residency at Rutgers–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During this time, he distinguished himself as a leader among his peers and was appointed Chief Resident. This leadership role helped refine both his clinical expertise and interpersonal skills, shaping an approach to care that balances technical precision with human connection. These formative years were critical in defining his professional identity and preparing him for a career in oncology.

Driven by a desire to advance cancer treatment, Dr. Gaffar pursued a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at the USF–Moffitt Cancer Center, an institution known for its research-driven culture. During his fellowship, he conducted focused research in Genitourinary (GU) Oncology and Senior Adult Oncology. These experiences provided specialized knowledge that continues to influence his clinical practice today. Dr. Gaffar is board-certified in both hematology and medical oncology and remains committed to ongoing education to maintain the highest standards of care.

Research leadership has been a defining element of Dr. Gaffar’s career. He has played a pivotal role in developing strong, community-based clinical research programs designed to bring cutting-edge treatments to patients outside traditional academic centers. Under his leadership, these programs have achieved national recognition and rank among the most productive clinical trial sites in the country.
