Yousuf Gaffar, M.D, is a physician specializing in hematology and medical oncology with nearly two decades of experience dedicated to advancing cancer care. Following medical school, he completed his residency at Rutgers–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During this time, he distinguished himself as a leader among his peers and was appointed Chief Resident. This leadership role helped refine both his clinical expertise and interpersonal skills, shaping an approach to care that balances technical precision with human connection. These formative years were critical in defining his professional identity and preparing him for a career in oncology.

Driven by a desire to advance cancer treatment, Dr. Gaffar pursued a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at the USF–Moffitt Cancer Center, an institution known for its research-driven culture. During his fellowship, he conducted focused research in Genitourinary (GU) Oncology and Senior Adult Oncology. These experiences provided specialized knowledge that continues to influence his clinical practice today. Dr. Gaffar is board-certified in both hematology and medical oncology and remains committed to ongoing education to maintain the highest standards of care.

Research leadership has been a defining element of Dr. Gaffar’s career. He has played a pivotal role in developing strong, community-based clinical research programs designed to bring cutting-edge treatments to patients outside traditional academic centers. Under his leadership, these programs have achieved national recognition and rank among the most productive clinical trial sites in the country.
